on your mark, get set......

I ran in the Capitol 10K (Cap10) (6.2 miles) road race yesterday. On January 1, 1990, after a decade of inactivity, I made a goal of running Cap10. Between New Years Day and Easter of 1990, I ramped my running distance from 100 yards to 6 miles.  I was able to finish the race that year and I've been running ever since.  I don't do 10K races any more but I make it a point to run Cap10 every year for sentimental reasons. There were 18,000 runners entered this year. It was a beautiful day for a run in the race that started it all for me. (Credit The Austin American Statesman for the great photo)
